Director's Haven

DIRECTORS HAVEN 7

The Director’s Haven gives directors in the earliest stages of their professional careers a rare opportunity to take risks, hone their crafts and talents and share their vision through a fully staged production of a short play. Giving directors support to produce during their formative years, which includes a full design team, budget, marketing support and more, allows these artists to create quality work as well as provides a platform to further their artistic visibility through the creation of said work.

Applications open May 26th and will close August 1st 2023.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • MUST BE A CURRENT RESIDENT OF CHICAGO

  • MUST NOT BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN AN UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE DIRECTING PROGRAM

  • MUST NOT BE AFFILIATED WITH AN EXISTING PRODUCTION COMPANY TO THE EXTENT WHERE YOU ARE ABLE TO DIRECT A FULL-LENGTH PLAY FOR SAID COMPANY

NOTE: THIS PROGRAM IS INTENDED FOR DIRECTORS AT THE VERY EARLIEST STAGES OF THEIR CAREERS BEFORE THEY HAVE MANY PROFESSIONAL (UNION OR NON-UNION) FULL PRODUCTION CREDITS FOR FULL-LENGTH PLAYS. WHILE THERE IS NO AGE REQUIREMENT OR "MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PRODUCTIONS" TO QUALIFY, PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN CONSIDERING YOUR APPLICATION.
